Ventura Chapter beach clean up

“According to www.condorferries.co.uk, 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic waste are currently estimated to be in our oceans. 269,000 tons float and 4 billion microfibers stay on the ground of our seas. 70% of the debris stays in the bottom of the ocean, 15% float, and the last 15% stay on our beaches. This debris harms physical habitats, transports chemical pollutants, endangers aquatic life, and interferes with human use of the beaches. It is said that if every person picks up just a piece of trash today, there will be 300 million fewer pieces of litter. This small beach cleanup is just the start of a huge revolution for a cleaner world.”
