Goals for the Seattle Chapter
The Seattle Chapter has three goals: Education. Community. Action.
Education. When we walk into a classroom, we strive to give students a comprehensive and locally-focused understanding of the natural environment they live in. By tying the significance of climate change to the Pacific Northwest, we hope to bring greater awareness to environmental issues here at home when they may be absent from the general curriculum.
Community. Our ultimate goal is to establish strong relationships with schools and teachers in the Seattle area that will allow us to regularly work together to fuel the sustainability movement. By normalizing environmentally-conscious behavior, we hope to empower the next generation to create long-term change in their communities.
Action. At the end of the day, people will save what they love. So, we teach students about sustainability and the beauty of our planet in an effort to inspire that love and hopefully, inspire a passion for climate action and education beyond the classroom in today’s youth.
